A Confession

12 November 2010

Temptation was just too much for me today.

Blame it on TV commercials bombarding us with reminders that Christmas is just around the corner (a Christmas sale at Kohl’s this weekend? REALLY? Really? Did I sleep through Thanksgiving?). Or the weather getting down to the 50s at night so I can finally break out a jacket. Or the holiday lights that are starting to appear here and there in parking lots.

I snapped. I gave in to the delicious, forbidden pleasure of listening to Christmas music for the first time this season.

Everyone knows you’re supposed to wait until after Thanksgiving!

But I clicked on Accuradio’s Holiday Station and chose “Old-fashioned Christmas” and enjoyed being serenaded by the likes of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra. The deed is done and I can’t go back now and undo it. But I will try, try, try to restrain myself from doing it again until it’s more socially acceptable. Ah, tous ces moeurs et coutumes!

All in all, not a bad way to spend a Friday.
